Japanese Language Class

Hey guys! We are planning to reopen our Japanese Language Class next year!!!!! What do you think? To prevent *ehem* what happened last time, please be serious and don't back out!

The more people join, the cheaper the fees will be! About RM 35 a month, just an estimate..It will be held after classes, around 6 or 7 pm..

Place: Sunway Pyramid Convention Center

Time: uh...whole day? (about from 11 am to 7pm I think...)

Date: 19 and 20th December 2009 (Saturday and Sunday)

Entrance Fee: *sit down first you guys* RM 15 per day (but can get RM 25 for 2 days if book early *closing date is 23 December, please pay by then coz I have to process the order XP* )

If you want to book, please email us at imu.nihonnosekai@gmail.com, and state your name, batch, and where we can meet to collect money XD.

The list of names of people who have signed up and paid will be up on Comic Fiesta Forums Nihon no Sekai corner (can view even without signing in), so please check after you register with us that your name is there (forgive us if we miss out your name >.< style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">Please don't back out, because once you confirm and we buy the ticket, its yours (sorry, cannot refund T.T).

If you all scared last minute cannot go, then you can buy the ticket on that day itself (normal price), but I warn you...THE LINE WILL BE LOOOOOONG *previous victim here :P*

Bon Odori 2009

Yay! Bon Odori was awesome! Last Saturday three members and I went down to Shah Alam stadium to celebrate one of Japanese' prominent festival! Bon Odori (odori means dance) is their traditional practice and culture in celebrating the deaths and soothing the souls of their anchestors. Of course, I was there purely for culture sake and the food!

The other three were Yee Jin, Xiao Jie and Yen Lu (Yellow). Initially there were 17 signed up but due to transportation difficulties, only four of us went. The other four went by themselves. Many Japanese were there wearing yukata (summer wear/summer version of kimono). They sold many food, some can be obtain from our local sushi king. The ice-creams were authentics!

The gate opens at 5pm but by 5:15pm, the stadium wepre packed with thousand over people. The atmosphere were breath taking! The dance was divided into four set and repeated three rounds with short break in between. The steps were simple but it was the fact that thousand over people were moving together at the same pace (except some sesat fellas) which made it so grand and amazing.

I surely have enjoyed the trip and we will organized a better trip next year. This event is to honour the Japanese' anchestors (usually held on 13th July in Japan for three days). Therefore as respect, no cosplaying or gothic lolita dress code. That will be an insult.

Sorry for not posting anything for quite some time. Here is an event coming up soon. We've received this email from an event company.

An event organizing company called G2 Penang, is having an anime event next week at Island Plaza shopping complex situated in Penang Island. There will be 40 booth which is all rent free available for you guys to exhibit and selling your anime stuff such as comic and anime figure. Beside that, the company will pay for anyone who is interested to carry out the side activities such as cosplay and stage entertaiment. If you are interested please contact 012-4031322. Important update in April

1. Forming a Japanese Singing Band
Regarding this, we already have 1 singer, 2 pianist, and 1 drummer. Currently we are finding 1
bass and 2 electric guitar. Do please tell us asap for arrangement.

2. Looking for dancers.

- guys and girls are welcome to join!

3. Comic Fiesta - looking for committees.
Current post available will be secretary, venue/facilities, leader of event planner, singing
competition, invitation/transport and refreshment team. If you are interested to become part
of the committee, please reply me asap within these 2 weeks. We want to start planning for it
already.

4. GACC - looking for a group of people who are interested in cosplay.

- wanna cosplay but dunno how? Shy? Let's go as a group!

- do email us the character you are interested with and we will help each other out.

5. Sushi competition coming up!

- those who joined our sushi class are encouraged to take part =) (date will be informed later)

6. Japanese Class (IMPORTANT)

- We will start the class on 13th of April.
- The class duration will be 3 months (April, August and September), 2 hours from 6.30pm to
8.30pm.
- The fees will be RM35 per month.
- Basic listening, reading, writing and speaking will be taught.
- For those who sign up, please be punctual for the class and bring the fees on the first day one
the class. For those who havn't sign up, please email us asap this week.

The class will be start on April:
Day: Monday
Time: 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Fees: RM35 per month (members)
RM40 per month (non-members)
Duration: About 4 months
Learn: Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking basic

Bibliography (Mr Edward)

An MBA holder on Human Resource Development, Edward LEE has been teaching Japanese language and culture to adult learners since 1984. He has taught classes ranging from basic to advanced level. While at the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), he helped established its Japanese Language Training Unit and has developed several Japanese language courses specifically to meet the needs of government officers. He also co-wrote several Japanese language textbooks used in these courses.

He left INTAN in 1994 and was invited to join a Japanese non-profit making organization to help establish its Japanese Language Centre. As part of the Japanese government effort in promoting international understanding and intensifying cultural exchange between Japan and overseas countries, the Centre was entrusted the role to provide support to the development of Japanese language education in Malaysia. He works very closely with the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the Public Service Department Malaysia, local universities and schools as well as related organizations in support for the development of their Japanese language teachers and courses. He is one of the advisors to the Ministry's current project on the development of a new Japanese Language syllabus and textbook for secondary schools in Malaysia. He was also part of the team in developing the syllabus for the 'Teaching of Japanese as a Foreign Language' Program at a local teacher training college.

LEE also volunteers his services to the Japanese Language Society of Malaysia. He is its current President and oversees not only the management and development of its Japanese language curriculum and courses, but also its overall management and cultural activities.
